Trinamool Congress will help to form next central government: Mamata Banerjee

Darjeeling, Apr 11 (IBNS): Addressing a rally in West Bengal's Darjeeling, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said her party will help to form the next government at the Centre.

"This is an election to form government in Delhi, Trinamool Congress will help to form the new government at the Centre. So make us win all 42 Lok Sabha seats," Banerjee said stating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to get ousted.

Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, also hit out at the Narendra Modi government for allegedly not taking any action despite having information about the Pulwama terror attack, which took place on Feb 14.

"Modi government had intelligence input but didn't take action. The government is responsible for the attack," the Trinamool supremo said.

The terror attack had left at least 40 Indian paramilitary personnel.

The Trinamool has never been able to win the Darjeeling seat, which was bagged by the BJP in 2014 General Elections.

The contest in 2019 is close with Trinamool fielding Amar Singh Rai, a sitting MLA who joined politics under GJM banner, for the Lok Sabha polls.

BJP, which has replaced outgoing MP SS Ahluwalia by Raju Bista in this year's polls, is eyeing to retain the seat in north Bengal.

Darjeeling will go to polls in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Apr 18.
