If Amit Shah fights from Birbhum then he will be defeated by a margin of five-six lakh votes: TMC leader Anubrata Mondal challenges

Bolpur, Apr 2 (IBNS): Trinamool Congress leader  Anubrata Mondal has challenged Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah to fight from Birbhum Lok Sabha seat.

Mondal predicted that if Shah decides to contest from the seat then he will be defeated by a margin of five-six lakh votes.

Mondal is the president of Trinamool's Birbhum district unit.

Targeting Shah, the TMC leader said: "Why is he not contesting from Birbhum? Let him contest from here. If he decides to contest from this seat then he will be defeated by a margin of five-six lakh votes."

When asked that Shah has claimed that the BJP will win 23 seats in Bengal, Mondal: "Is he in his senses now."

Amit Shah feels BJP will win 23 seats in Bengal:

BJP chief Amit Shah on Sunday said he is expecting that the Bharatiya Janata Party will increase its seats substantially in states like West Bengal, Odisha and Northeast.

Shah, while speaking to CNN News 18, said he hopes that the BJP will emerge victorious in 23 seats in West Bengal.

West Bengal has been a focus for the saffron party where it had managed to win just 2 out of the 42 seats in 2014.

BJP will be fighting against the ruling parties like Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and  Biju Janata Dal in Odisha in the national polls.

Shah said he is hoping to see the BJP gaining clear majority in the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to CNN News18, Shah said the BJP was looking to bag between 35-40 seats in these states.

“It will be a 35-40 game,” he said.
