Karnataka: BJP finalises its candidate list for 27 LS seats

Bengaluru, Mar 29 (UNI) By announcing the remaining three nominees for the Chikkodi, Raichur and Koppal Parliamentary constituencies, that goes to polls in second and final phase of Lok Sabha elections on Aprl 23, the Central BJP leaders have cleared its candidates for 27 Lok sabha seats from Karnataka.

While the BJP had given its green signal to the sitting Lok Sabha member Karadi Sanganna to contest from the Koppal seat, the uncertainty was ended for the Raichur and Chkkodi, where it has nominated Raja Amaresh Nayak and Anna Saheb Jolle, respectively.

While Karnataka has 28 LS seats, the BJP has fielded its candidates for the 27 Lok Sabha seats and extended its support to the cine actor Sumalatha, widow of former Union minister Ambharish in Mandya segment.

In the 2014 lok Sabha elections the BJP riding on the Modi-wave had bagged as many as 17 lok sabha seats followed by 9 by the Congress and the JD(S) secured the remaining two seats among the total number of 28 seats in Karnataka.

In the coming April elections, the Congress and the JD(S) had clinched a pre-poll alliance by agreeing to share 21 and 7 seats, respectively.
