Kerala: Police arrest 422 in 'Operation Bolt'

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 17 (UNI) About 422 people were arrested in the first day of the raid in connection with 'Operation Bolt,' launched by Kerala Police to counter activities of drug mafia and goons in this city.

Police conducted raids in 200 houses and checked about 1250 vehicles coming from neighbouring Tamil Nadu leading to the arrest on Saturday, sources said.


In a raid at Pravachambalam junction, 20 kg narcotics was seized from a Tamil Nadu State Transport Bus and arrested a 40-year-old Ajayan hailing from Puliyarakkonam in the city suburb.


The police also prepared a list of 210 serial offenders and 150 drug sellers, and planning to conduct more raids in the city in the coming days.


The Operation Bolt was in the wake of rising number of murders and drug-related cases in the city.
