Kanpur, Mar 8 (UNI) Raising the mantra of Unity in the country to wipe out terrorism and corruption, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday blamed the Opposition leaders for insulting the martyrs and benefiting Pakistan, in the country's war against terrorism.

"Unity is the Mantra. I say to those indulging in spurious politics to join fight against terror, than wasting energy on Modi. They are giving a slogan of "end Modi", but we say are saying, end terrorism and corruption," he said.

Addressing a public meeting here at the Railway ground after launching and inaugurating several projects, including Lucknow Metro rail, Panki power project and foundation for Kanpur and Agra metro, Modi said the country should be united against war on terrorism.

"Elections will come and go, but it is the responsibility of every Indian that enemy of the country should not get benefited. These statements are helping Pakistan, which has been isolated in the international community. Our action will frustrate everyone related to terror activities. Maintaining unity in the country is the priority," he said.

"Unfortunately, attempts are being made to downplay our Army's valour. Can we forgive those who give statements, which please Pakistan? The whole world is putting pressure on Pakistan, but statements from some people in the country are helping them," he alleged.

"These people are giving statements, which are favourable for Pakistan and weakening the case at the international level to put pressure on our enemy ," he said.

The Prime Minister was also concerned about the attack on Kashmiris in the country.

"Recently, an incident happened in Lucknow, but UP government took strong action. I ask all the state governments to take stern action against any offenders. We require an ideology of unity, brotherhood and harmony to achieve our goal,' Modi added.

Claiming that the government was going for a decisive fight to eliminate terrorism from across the border, he said that now the bosses of the terror outfits sensing India's actions have gone desperate, which resulted in Thursday's Jammu blast.

"But, we will not deter and will fulfill the aspiration of the people to end terrorism as well as corruption, which has forced all the people who are in jail, or ready to go to jail or are on bail, to go for a spurious alliance, just to counter me," he said, while raising the slogan of Modi hai to Mumkin hai.

He said that his government doesn't believe in lip service, but doing work on the ground and reiterated his announcement of 2014, that by 2022, all homeless in the country would get houses.

"By 2022, there will not be a single family in the country that doesn't have a roof on their head. Everyone will have a house," he assured.

During most of his speech, Modi gave details about the changes that will take place in Kanpur after the completion of the projects launched by him on Friday.

"The previous governments in UP did not show concern on the ailing Panki power project, but the present Yogi government would invest Rs 6000 crore for new units to get adequate power for the people of Kanpur," he said, while adding that everyone knows that whichever project Modi has laid the foundation would be inaugurated by him.

He also said that the upcoming defence corridor in UP will benefit Kanpur mostly, as the present defence units will be expanded.

"The city of Kanpur has an old identity and its political values are big. Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had studied in this city, while current President Ramnath Kovind is from the city too," he added.

He also expressed his condolence to the martyrs from the city. UP Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, local BJP MP and former Union minister Murli Manohar Joshi and UP Minister Satish Mahana, were also present during the function.
