Bollywood celebrities mourn loss of lives in Amritsar train trgedy

Mumbai, Oct 20 (IBNS): Bollywood celebrities have mourned the death of more than 50 people in a major train mishap during a Dussehra festival celebration in Punjab on Friday.

In a major incident of railway mishap, a train ran over several people who were standing on tracks to watch the burning of Ravana effigy near Amritsar on Friday evening during Dussehra celebrations. Reports said at least 58 people were killed in the accident. 

Actor Ajay Devgn tweeted: "Pained to hear about the Amritsar train tragedy. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families."

Actress Alia Bhatt commented: "The #AmritsarTrainAccident is heartbreaking! Terrible terrible thing to have happened..This is just another example our extremely poor attitude towards caution and safety.. Prayers for all those suffering ."

Actor Farhan Akhtar remarked: "Saddened to hear about the loss of life in #Amritsar. Safety in public spaces HAS TO be taken a lot more seriously. Deepest condolences to all families affected by this tragedy."

Actor Shatrughan Sinha posted: "Shocked & saddened to hear about the Amritsar train tragedy. It seems so unfair for a horrific accident of this magnitude amidst celebrations of Dussehra. Providence has strange ways of throwing challenges at the humankind."

Actress Diana Penty tweeted: "Absolutely shocked at hearing the news of the #trainaccident in #Amritsar. I just cannot fathom how something like this could have happened. My deepest condolences to all the families that have lost their loved ones. Love and prayers ."
