Jet passenger who fell ill due to falling cabin pressure demands Rs. 30 lakh, 100 business class upgrades

Mumbai, Sept 21 (IBNS): One of the Jet Airways passengers who had fallen ill due to falling cabin pressure on Thursday has demanded a compensation of Rs. 30 lakh and 100 business class upgrades from the airline, media reports said.

"The passenger claimed that Jet Airways has not taken care of its customers and therefore he should be paid Rs. 30 lakh in addition to 100 upgrade vouchers to enable him travel in a business class on an economy class ticket," a source told NDTV.

A Jet Airways flight had to turn back shortly after taking off from Mumbai on Thursday morning as the loss in cabin pressure led to serious health problems of some of the passengers.

Around 30 passengers felt dizzy while many suffered nose and ear-bleeding. Oxygen masks were also dropped down.

The flight, which had 171 passengers on board, was on its way to Jaipur.

Reports said the situation occurred as the cockpit crew forgot to select a switch which maintains the cabin pressure.

Expressing regrets in a statement, Jet Airways said the crew has been "taken off scheduled duties pending investigations", NDTV reported.

All the passengers were taken to airport terminal for first aid.

The airline said an alternate arrangement will be made for the passengers.
