Bengaluru, Jun 14 (IBNS): Heading on to take a major step after assuming power, Karnataka's new Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has said he will soon announce loan waiver for farmers.

Kumaraswamy took to Twitter to say that he is working on modalities right now, clearing his stand on the issue.

His tweet reads, "Dear farmers Let there be no confusion on farm loan waiver. I am fully committed to the loan waiver. I want to ensure it is done scientifically benefitting maximum farmers. I am working on the the modalities and will announce it shortly."

Loan waiver has been an issue across the country for sometime now.

Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments, which are operating in various states, have already announced loan waiver.

Kumaraswamy became the new CM of the state after his party Janata Dal (Secular) stitched a post-poll alliance with the Congress to form the Karnataka government.

The Congress-JD(S) alliance presently has the support of 119 lawmakers.
