Security forces nab two NSCN (K) militants in Nagaland

Guwahati, May 20 (IBNS): Security forces apprehended at least two militants affiliated to the banned NSCN (K) outfit and recovered arms and ammunition in Nagaland on Saturday, officials said on Sunday.

According to the reports, one militant was apprehended by the Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles, who had established a check post in Jharnapani near Medziphema.

The aforementioned militant, identified as Hapang Konyak, was nabbed while he was travelling from Kohima to Dimapur.

One .22 pistol, two live rounds and a motorcycle was recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, the militant revealed that he had been undertaking extortion activities in Dimapur and Kohima.  

Later, he along with the recovered items, were handed over to Medziphema police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the second militant was nabbed by the Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles, who had launched an operation based on specific information, in Tinpatti, Kohima district, along with police officers in Kohima.

He has been identified as Tsiinuo Pienyii alias Khrielelie Pienyii.

Security personnel have recovered one cash recipt and four extortion slips amounting to Rs 1,00,000.

He too, along with his possession, were handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.

In a separate operation, the Assam Rifles have recovered a .22 auto pistol along with one magazine from the residence of Kezhalezo Ciesotsu at Merima near Kohima.

The recovered items were deposited to North Police Station and an FIR was lodged against the concerned individual.
