BJP CM candidate BS Yeddyurappa reaches Raj Bhavan, to stake claim to form Karnataka government
Bengaluru, May 16 (IBNS): After being named as the legislative leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa has reached the Raj Bhavan (Govenor's house), where he will meet Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, to stake claim to form the next Karnataka government.
Though the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the Karnataka poll, it fell short of the majority mark (113) by nine seats.
The Congress, which got 78 seats, extended its support to former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's Janata Dal (Secular), which bagged 38 seats under its belt, to form the government.
The Congress has also left the CM's post to the JD(S).
The JD(S) has named Deve Gowda's son and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy as the next CM of the state.
Despite being left alone in the assembly, the BJP exuded confidence in forming the government.
