Assam Governor takes additional charge as Governor of Manipur

Guwahati, May 2 (IBNS): Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi took oath as the Governor of Manipur on Wednesday.  

Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur  Justice N. Kotiswar Singh administered the oath of office to him at a solemn function held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Wednesday.

It may be noted that a communiqué made with Raj Bhavan Assam from Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 27 April, 2018, has been stated that the President of India by articles 155 and 160 of the Constitution of India, appoint Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam to discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, during the absence on leave of Dr. Najma A. Heptulla.

The charge of Manipur will be in addition to his present charge as the Governor of Assam.
