New Delhi, Apr 27 (IBNS): The Congress has filed a police case following the malfunctioning of the plane scheduled to carry party chief Rahul Gandhi from Delhi to Karnataka, according to media reports on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday.

According to the complaint lodged by the Congress, the plane carrying Rahul Gandhi suddenly dipped, listed to one side and shuddered violently despite clear weather, reports said.

The Congress has alleged "intentional tampering" of the aircraft and called for an investigation.

Two others who were with Rahul Gandhi later tweeted about the incident.

Tweeted Kaushal K Vidyarthee, "Glad to be in a room and getting some rest....thankful for being alive...never had such a frightening experience in my life...plane went into free fall...couldnt believe CP's composure and calmness as he stood beside pilots trying to save the situation."

NDTV quoted BS Bhullar, who heads the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), as saying, "It was snag of autopilot mode and pilot shifted to manual mode and landed safely."

Bhullar said, "Shutting of autopilot incidents are not uncommon. For any VIP flight, DGCA examines it in detail. We shall do here also."

According to DGCA, a detailed report will be out in two weeks.
