Cabinet expansion of Sonowal-led govt on Apr 26

Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS): The much awaited cabinet expansion of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government will take place on Apr 26 next.

A top source of Assam BJP unit said that, the cabinet expansion has been finalised after BJP’s National President had approved it recently.

The source further said the cabinet expansion will be held at Raj Bhawan at around 10 am on Apr 26.

Seven new ministers are likely to be inducted in the BJP-led state government.

The top source said that, among the new ministers, five will be from BJP while one each new minister to be inducted from its ally parties Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

Among the new faces from BJP might be Pijush Hazarika (MLA of Jagiroad constituency), Siddhartha Bhattacharya (MLA of Guwahati East), Tapan Kumar Gogoi (MLA of Sonari), Sum Ronghang (MLA of Diphu) and Angoorlata Deka (MLA of Batadrava).

Apart from it, senior AGP leader and MLA from Bongaigaon assembly constituency Phani Bhusan Choudhury and BPF MLA Chandan Brahma might be berth as new ministers in Sonowal-led government.

Seven ministers including Chief Minister from BJP and two each ministers from AGP and BPF are in the present government.
