Bengaluru, Apr 24 (IBNS): Sounding confident about the saffron party's victory in the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Tuesday said the southern state wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi's idea of development.

Speaking at a press conference, Patra said: "Only one party is confident to win in Karantaka and that is BJP. We (BJP) are hungry (to win) but without arrogance. BJP will win because Karnataka wants only the idea of development of Narendra Modi."

Patra has also took a dig at Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his poor track record of winning polls.

He even claimed the Karnataka Congress does not want its national president to even visit the state for campaigning. "The prospect of any Congress leader vanishes once gets touched upon by Rahul Gandhi. None of the Congress leaders want Rahul Gandhi to come to Karnataka. They are annoyed."

Patra even attacked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for contesting from two seats.

The Karnataka polls will be held in a single phase on May 12.

The poll results will be out on May 15.

Karnataka is one of the few last strong holds of the Congress.

The BJP, which swept the northeastern belt recently, is eyeing on to comeback to power in the southern state.

The state poll has literally turned out to be a battle between present and former Chief Ministers, Siddaramaiah and B.S. Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa is the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate.
