Two terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Mar 24 (IBNS): At least two terrorists were killed on Saturday during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said.

A police official said, "As a part of a joint operation, Anantnag Police, along with 19 RR and CRPF, launched a search operation in Shishtargam area of PS Dooro. It resulted in an encounter withhiding militants."

In the ongoing encounter, 2 militants have been killed.

The identity and affiliation of the killed militants are being ascertained.

In the process, huge cache of incriminating material, which include AK- 47 rifles, grenades, etc were recovered from the encounter site.

In the encounter, no collateral damage has taken place and security forces are now sanitizing the area.

Speaking on the encounter, the Northern Command of the Indian Army earlier tweeted: "#IndianArmy #OpShistargam (#Anantnag) Two #Terrorists killed in Joint Operation. Operation in progress. @adgpi @SpokespersonMoD @PIB_India @JmuKmrPolice @crpfindia."

In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation has a been taken up under the relevant provisions of the law by the police.

Meanwhile, authorities have suspended train service and snapped internet service in parts of South Kashmir.
