Don't differentiate between good and bad terror: Narendra Modi in Davos

Davos, Jan 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday used the platform of the World Economic Forum's plenary session to give a strong message against terrorism when he said it is a worse step to differentiate between 'good' and 'bad' terror.

 

He termed global warming and terrorism as major troubles faced by the world today.

"Terrorism is dangerous. Worse is when people say there is a difference between 'good' and 'bad' terror. It is painful to see some youngsters getting radicalised," Modi said as he addressed at the World Economic Forum for the first time.

Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend the crucial forum in 21 years.

Amid thunderous applause Modi took the stage to deliver his debut speech at the venue and in Hindi he said he was delighted to attend the session.

Highlighting the issue of Indian culture of caring for nature, Modi said: "Care towards the environment is a part of India's culture."

Modi pitched for the immediate needed idea of protecting the environment unitedly when he said: "We the human are children of Mother Earth."

"Let us think about what we can do to mitigate climate change," he said.

He also used the platform in showcasing the various crucial economic policies his government has implemented since coming to power in 2014.

"We have pledged to end license raj and we are removing red tape and laying out the red carpet," Modi said.

He also mentioned the implantation of his government key policies- GST and FDI- which, according to him, has been accepted by global business community.

He said Indian youth are aiming to become job givers.

"With push to entrepreneurship, our youth is turning into a job giver and not just a job seeker," he said.

As he begun his speech, Modi mentioned the participation of former Indian PM HD Deve Gowda in the WEF in 1997.

Speaking on Indian GDP growth, Modi said: "India's GDP has grown six times since  HD Deve Gowda participated in the forum in 1997."

He said Davos as ahead of its time in 1997.

Modi is the first Indian PM to participate in the forum in 21 years.

He said the issue of technology is playing an important role in all aspects of society today.

"Today, every aspect of the society is technology driven," Modi said.

He said one who controls data will 'control the world'.

Modi also referred 'protectionism' as a challenge faced by the world today.

He said: "Technology-driven transformation is deeply influencing the way we live, the way we work, behave and talk to each other and influencing international politics and economics."

Speaking on the concept of integrity, Modi said: "India has always believed in values of integration and unity."

"Let us create a 'heaven of freedom', where there is cooperation and not division, fractures," he said.

Urging and welcoming the world to visit India, Modi invited the global community toe nation when he said: "India is a destination for wellness, wholeness and peace."
