Ahmedabad, Dec 23 (IBNS): Rahul Gandhi, who in his capacity as the party vice president campaigned extensively in Gujarat prior to the state Assembly elections held recently, returned to the state on Saturday as the party's president to meet his party workers and discuss about the electoral outcome.

Somnath Temple in Gujarat was his first stop in the state.

Even though BJP returned to power in Gujarat, it won 99 seats, the lowest in last 22 years, and the Congress bagged 80 seats.

Post elections, the Gujarat Congress organised a three-day conclave, to be concluded on Saturday, to discuss the results and other issues, media reported.

Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to meet the newly-elected MLAs as well as other leaders  in Ahmedabad on Saturday, before addressing the gathering of party workers in the evening.
