Fodder scam case verdict today, Lalu Prasad's political future at stake

Patna, Dec 23 (IBNS): Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad's political future will be determined as a verdict on his alleged involvement in the fodder scam case is awaited on Saturday, media reports said.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court will announce the verdict.

Along with Lalu, Jagannath Mishra and former top bureaucrat Sajal Chakraborty are accused in the case which pertains to their alleged withdrawal of Rs. 89.27 lakh from Deoghar district treasury between 1994 and 1996.

Lalu Prasad has already been convicted by trial court and sentenced to 5 years jail term in Chaibasa treasury withdrawal case connected to the fodder scam.

For him he conviction in 2013 invited a ban on running for office.

Interacting with media, Lalu said he has full faith in the judicial system. "I have full faith that I will get justice."

Hinting at political vendetta by the BJP, he said: "Under any circumstances, I will uproot BJP from power."

The RJD chief cleared that it would be his sons, Tejashwi and Tej Pratap,who will lead his party if he is jailed.

Tejashwi also told media that he believes the verdict will be in favour of the RJD.
