Ahmedabad, Dec 11 (IBNS): Ahmedabad police denied permissions to both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to hold roadshows in the city on Tuesday, the last day of campaigning for the second and last phase of Gujarat poll, media reports said.

The police have denied permission citing law and order situation and also the public inconvenience.

Both the PM and the Congress VP have been campaigning hard for the last phase of the Gujarat poll, scheduled to take place on Dec 14.

The first phase of the poll was held on Dec 9.

A little more than 66 percent of the voters had turned out in the first phase to seal the mandate for Gujarat poll.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fighting an anti-incumbency in the state, the Congress is eyeing on to make an inroad in the state after 22 years.

The saffron brigade is in power in the state since 1995.

The counting of the poll will take place on Dec 18.
