Mehbooba re-elected PDP president
Srinagar, Dec 2 (IBNS) : Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Saturday re-elected as president of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for sixth terms in a row, a party leader said.
He said Mufti's election to the post was unanimous.
The PDP was founded by late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Mehbooba's father, in 1999. He led the party till death in September, 2016.
Fifty-eight-year-old Mehbooba, a law graduate from the University of Kashmir, joined politics in 1996 when she was elected from Bijbehara Assembly constituency on Congress ticket.
She is the first woman Chief Minister of the State.
