Assam: Minor girl raped in front of her brother, 3 arrested

Guwahati, August 10 (IBNS): The police on Sunday said they have arrested three people for allegedly raping a minor girl in front of her brother in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

Four people had allegedly raped the girl near the Dibrugarh railway station on Saturday night.

The incident took place when the 15-year-old girl and her brother were on the way to Dibrugarh railway station to board the Brahmaputra mail when a gang of four students allegedly raped the girl.

Dibrugarh district ASP Hiranya Barman said they were dropped outside the railway station by an auto driver and were walking towards the station when they were intercepted by the gang.

“The culprits took the girl and raped her,” the police official said.

At around 1:30 am, a police patrol party found the girl in semi naked condition outside the railway station and admitted her in Assam Medical College hospital.

After the incident, police launched an operation and arrested three students of the gang.

The arrested culprits have been identified as Pranjit Dutta and Kalyan Dutta and Kiran Gogoi.

The absconding other accused has been identified as Raju Gogoi .

The Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to nab the absconding accused.
