An army officer and a civilian injured in Assam encounter, NDFB (S) militant nabbed

Guwahati, June 2 (IBNS): An army official and a civilian were injured in an encounter with suspected militants of the outlawed NDFB (S) in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Thursday night, officials said on Friday.


Kokrajhar district SP Rajen Singh said that, army captain Tripatpreet Singh of the Rajput Regiment and a civilian Rufon Tigga were injured in the encounter and both are undergoing treatment in Guwahati.

Tripatpreet Singh was admitted at an army hospital in Guwahati, while the civilian admitted at Guwahati Medical College hospital.

The encounter came following amid stepped of massive operations against the outfit group in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) and other parts of the state.

Meanwhile, army, Assam police and other security agencies had jointly launched massive operation against the attackers.

In the aftermath of 2014 carnage of the adivasis in BTAD area by NDFB (S), over 100 militants of the outfit were either killed or apprehended by the security forces.

On the other hand, security forces had apprehended a hardcore militant of the outfit from Molandubi area in Kokrajhar district on Friday.

The nabbed militant was identified as Dilip Rai and security personnel had recovered one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, ammunition in possession from him.
