Am I a terrorist, former Assam CM says after SPG stopped him to visit Dhola-Sadiya bridge

Guwahati, May 22 (IBNS) : Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday was prevented to visit the Dhola-Sadiya bridge, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26.

According to reports, the former Assam CM was stopped to visit the 9.15 km long bridge for security reason.

The elite Special Protection Group (SPG) has been taken over the site of the bridge for the PM’s visit.

A top source of Tinsukia district administration said that, the SPG team had stopped the convoy of the former Assam CM to visit the bridge on Monday morning.

“The bridge is closed because of inauguration. The SPG, who has been taken over the bridge site had already said that, no would be allowed to go except workers,” the source said.

Following the incident, the former Assam CM criticizing the both BJP-led centre and state government and said that, the construction was started in 2011 during Congress tenure, but now BJP want to take all credits.

“Am I a terrorist? Will I break the laws? Am I brought any bomb? If no, why I was stopped,” Gogoi questioned following the incident.

PM Modi will inaugurate the India’s longest bridge on May 26 next.

Modi will address the nation from Guwahati on May 26 on the marks of completion of three years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA government.
