New Delhi, Apr 5 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday referred the Whatsapp privacy policy matter to a five-judge constitutional bench, according to media reports.

The constitutional bench will hear the matter on April 18.

Early this year, the Supreme Court had sought responses from the central government and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regarding the alleged infringement of privacy of Indians by social networking sites Facebook and Whatsapp, media reported.

Meanwhile, Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is planning to enter India’s digital payments industry, according to media reports.
