Upset over Rahul's meet with Modi, opposition parties pull put of protest

New Delhi, Dec 16 (IBNS): After Rahul Gandhi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning, the united opposition is reportedly not happy with the Congress Vice President's move and some of the parties have decided to pull out of the protest against the Centre's demonetisation initiative, media reports said.

The Left parties, the Samajwadi Party, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party, the Nationalist Congress Party headed by Sharad Pawar and the DMK have dropped out of the protest march to meet the President.

The decision was taken minutes before the protest march was supposed to begin from the Gandhi statue in the parliament premises.

According to reports, these opposition parties are upset that the Congress Vice-President met with the Prime Minister without informing them.

After accusing PM Modi of corruption and amid a series of attacks on the demonetisation move, Rahul Gandhi met him on Friday at Parliament to bring to his notice the misery of farmers of Uttar Pradesh.

Gandhi reportedly asked for waiving of the loans of the farmers.

Later he told media that the "Prime Minister accepted that the situation of the farmers is serious."

He, however, said the PM has not said anything on loan waiver.

In what he had earlier claimed that an "earthquake" is in the offing, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he has information proving  Prime Minister  Narendra Modi’s personal involvement in corruption.

“We are pretty much unconditionally ready for a debate in Parliament. The Government is not allowing me to speak. I have personal information about PM Modi’s corruption. He is personally terrified. He cannot run away from the House,”  Gandhi had said.
