Kolkata, Dec 8 (IBNS): The Kolkata Police on Wednesday arrested a youth for hacking the bank account of Allahabad High Court's retired Chief Justice and West Bengal's former governor Shyamal Sen, officials said.

According to reports, a special investigation team of Kolkata Police booked the 20-year-old man, Md. Jahid, from Asansol in Burdwan district for allegedly hacking Shyamal Sen's SBI ATM card and debiting 1,12,899 rupees from his bank account.

"Ex-Chief Justice and former Governor Shyamal Sen lodged a complaint in north Kolkata's Shyampukur Police Station, alleging that someone got his ATM's OTP (One Time Password) and debited more than 1 lakh rupees from his account, on Nov 19 and followed by the complaint, our Anti Bank Fraud cell had started probe into it," a senior official of city police's detective department told IBNS.

"During investigation, we came to know that 1,12,899 rupees were theft from his account, using at least 9 different payment gateways of several e-wallets, and made the first arrest in the case," the officer added.

However, Md. Jahid was produced in a city court on Wednesday and sent to police custody till Dec 16.

"We are interrogating the youth to know about others, involved in the bank account or ATM card fraud," a police official said.
