Srinagar, Nov 21 (IBNS): Kashmir and Ladakh regions continue to reel under the blanket of cold wave with the minimum temperatures plunging up to several degrees at many places, while dense fog disrupted Air traffic and and flights on Monday.

A met official said that summer capital of Srinagar recorded a low temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius.

He said that lowest temperature was recorded at Pahalgam (minus 2.2 degree Celsius). In Leh, the temperature has dropped down to minus 3.8 while Kargil recorded a temperature of minus 3.5 degree Celsius.

The official said that the persistent dry weather condition has resulted in a cold wave across the Valley as many places including Srinagar witnessing the minimum temperatures.

“Till Nov 24, there are no predictions of snow or any rainfall. Weather may remain cloudy but mostly dry. This may cause further decrease in night temperatures. The foggy conditions may persist. It may only after Nov 24 (Thursday) that plains of Valley may witness light rain while upper reaches may get snowfall," he said.

Meanwhile, flight operations remained suspended on Monday due to poor visibility.

"All flights to and from the Srinagar International Airport have been cancelled today due to dense fog," the officials said.
