Kanpur train accident: Mamata Banerjee mourns loss of lives

New Delhi, Nov 20 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday mourned the loss of lives in the train derailment incident at Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh which left at least 63 people.

"Saddened at the news of train accident. Thoughts and prayers with those families who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover well," Banerjee tweeted.
                                                                                                                  
At least 63 people were killed and over 150 injured when the Patna-Indore Express derailed close to Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday early morning, officials said.

About 14 coaches of the train derailed at around 3 am close to Kanpur city at a place called Pukhrayan.

So far 63 bodies have been retrieved, said a senior Railway Police official. An official said 99 percent injured were sent to hospitals in Kanpur.
