CWC wants Rahul Gandhi to take over as party President

New Delhi, Nov 7 (IBNS); During the crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) , the Congress leaders on Monday expressed their sentiments that party vice-president Rahul Gandhi should be elevated to the post of president.

Senior party leader AK Antony told media: "In today's CWC meeting members unanimously expressed their sentiments, that Rahul Gandhi take over leadership."

Party president Sonia Gandhi, who usually heads the CWC meets, was absent owing to ill health, and the meeting was led by Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi has been the party president since 1998.
