Kolkata/Siliguri, Nov 6 (IBNS): Acting on a tip off, police booked three suspects, including a woman, from Siliguri city in West Bengal's Darjeeling district on Saturday night and seized a huge cache of explosives from their possessions, officials said.

According to reports, based on credible source inputs, police arrested three persons, including two Nepali nationals, from Assam More area under Pradhan Nagar Police Station limits in Siliguri city.

Commissioner of Siliguri Metropolitan Police C. S. Lepcha told IBNS, "We nabbed two residents of Nepal- Dawa Shering Bhutia alias Dawa Gurung (50) and his wife Puja Limbu (35)- and a local person- Krishna Prasad Adhikary (40). They have been leaving in Siliguri for last six months."

"As many as 609 gelatin sticks, 200 detonators and 630 metres of cordex wire, which are generally used in explosives, were recovered from their possessions," Lepcha added.

They were produced in Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Sunday and sent to seven-day police custody.

Police are interrogating the trio to know why those explosives were gathered and if they have any link with terror groups or Maoists, an official said.
