JMB trying to establish training camp in Assam

Guwahati, Oct 6 (IBNS): Bangladeshi terrorist group JMB is trying to establish training camp in Assam to train local youths.

A top official of Assam police said that, the Bangladeshi terrorist group is focusing on the north east India specially Assam to create its base in the bordering state with Bangladesh.

“The group is trying to establish training camp in Lower Assam. The group also tried to procured arms from the outfit groups of north east India,” the police official said.

“There are 12 sleeper cells of JMB still active in Assam and Assam police has focused to find out the JMB militant and linkmen,” the top police official said.

Recently, Assam police and Kolkata police apprehended a hardcore militant of JMB, Jahidul Islam from Cachar district and three other persons from Barpeta district.

Assam police apprehended at least 60 JMB militants and linkmen from Lower Assam districts in past two years and destroyed a transit camp in Chirang district.

Security forces also recovered several arms, ammunition and explosives in possession from the nabbed JMB militants.
