President and Vice president of India wishes citizens on the eve of Onam

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President M. Hamid Ansari wished the citizens on the eve of Onam.

In his message, the President said, “I extend Onam greetings to all fellow countrymen, especially my brothers and sisters hailing from Kerala, living both in India and abroad.

Onam is a festival celebrated by people of all religion, caste and community with equal joy, underlying the secular fabric of our society. May this auspicious festival signifying the spirit of harmony, thanks giving and optimism bring happiness and prosperity to all sections of our people."

In his message, the Vice President said, "“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Onam.

Onam marks the beginning of the harvest season in various parts of our country especially in the Southern States. Celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm Onam reflects the central role of agriculture in our society. May the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our country.”
