Kashmir violence: Mehbooba Mufti visits AIIMS to meet Insha

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): After 51 days violence in the Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is in New Delhi since Saturday, visited Safdarjung Eye Centre at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here to enquire about the welfare of Insha, a young Kashmiri girl undergoing treatment for pellet injuries, on Sunday.

Mufti interacted with the doctors at AIIMS, requesting them to make all possible efforts to restore the eyesight of the girl.

14-year-old Insha has been hit by a spray of pellets fired by security forces at her home in Sedow Shopian of South Kashmir as a result of which one of her eyes had been ‘completely destroyed’ and she had lost even the ‘perception of light’ in the other eye.

“Even if she requires an eye transplant to make her see the world around again, the State Government would provide full support for the same,” she told the doctors.

The Chief Minister assured the parents of Insha that the government would ensure best possible treatment, within or even outside the country, for their daughter.

The Chief Minister also enquired about the welfare of a policeman, who was grievously injured during ongoing unrest and is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS.
