New Delhi, Aug 19 (IBNS): Keeping his strong bond intact with Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the people of the country on their Independence Day.

"Wishing the people of Afghanistan on their Independence Day," Modi tweeted.

"India deeply values the strong & enduring ties with Afghanistan. @ashrafghani" he said.

Earlier this year, PM Modi was conferred with Amir Amanullah Khan Award, Afghanistan's highest civilian honour, by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

He received the honour after the inauguration of Afghan-India Friendship Dam.

A lot has taken place between the two nation since.

The most significant, the release of an aid worker, Judith D'Souza, who was abducted in Kabul.
