PM's Swachh Bharat Mission brought big change in people's attitude: Rajnath
New Delhi, Jun 15 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that a big transformation has happened in the country in the last two years of the Central Government.
While addressing on the occasion of project launch of collection and transportation of municipal solid waste (Central Zone, Delhi) here, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Swachh Bharat campaign on 2nd October, 2014 on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which has resulted in the change of people’s attitude towards cleanliness.
"When the Prime Minister wielded the broom, he underlined that all citizens should contribute to the cleanliness campaign," said he.
Singh said that the recycling of waste not only helps make cities cleaner, but also marks a new social revolution.
He expressed happiness over the activities taken by South Delhi Municipal Corporation which can set an example before the whole of India.
He said that the project not only aims at collecting the garbage from door to door, but also segregating the garbage.
The Minister said that the project will help in making the Swachh Bharat Campaign of Prime Minister a success in Delhi. It will make Delhi clean and beautiful, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that about 1.5 crore people have voluntarily surrendered their subsidized cooking gas connection and the Prime Minister’s vision is that 5 crore people will be given subsidized cooking gas in the next three years so that every woman in the country should work in a smoke-free kitchen.
He also said that Indian economy is growing at a fast pace and expressed the belief that India will soon be able to overcome the poverty.
Lok Sabha MP from South Delhi Ramesh Bidhuri and other dignitaries were present during the function.
