EC: Karnataka RS polls not cancelled but returning officer to file FIR

New Delhi/Bengaluru, Jun 10 (IBNS): With the Rajya Sabha (RS) polls scheduled for Saturday, the Election Commission (EC) has refused to stall the polls for Karnataka based on allegations of bribery but has asked the government to hand over the probe to the CBI, according to media reports.
The EC has said that sting videos not enough to go ahead with bribery charges.
 
However, the Election Commission has asked the Returning Officer for the RS polls to file an FIR against MLA Mallikarjuna Khuba and others allegedly found involved  in the cash for vote issue, media reported.
 
Karnataka has four seats in the Rajya Sabha for which there are five contestants --  Jairam Ramesh, Oscar Farnandes and K.C. Ramamurthy from Congress, B.M. Farook  of JDS and Nirmala Sitharaman  of BJP.
