Mumbai, Mar 30 (IBNS) The new draft dance bar regulation bill of Maharashtra proposes to make any indecent behaviour with the dancers including showering money or coins on them a punishable offence, a CNN-IBN report says.

As per the draft bill, accessed by CNN-IBN, the bar owners will be required to install CCTV cameras both inside and outside the bar and have to preserve the footage for a month.

Dance bars will be allowed to stay open only till 11:30 pm and those who illegally operate dance bars will be liable to imprisonment up to 5 years and a fine of up to Rs 25 lakh. A committee of legislators is discussing the details of the bill which will be tabled in the assembly once it is finalised by the government.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fandavis had earlier said that the new law on dance bars will be a tribute to late NCP leader RR Patil. "We'll bring a regulatory law on dance bars. We are in a legal battle," he had said.

Fadnavis and Patil had earlier talked about bringing in a tougher legislation on dance bars.
