Flipkart supports Snapdeal on Aamir Khan's comment controversy

| | Nov 26, 2015, at 06:20 pm
New Delhi, Nov 26 (IBNS) As Snapdeal distanced itself from its brand ambassador Aamir Khan's controversial comment on intolerance in India, it received support from Flipkart, its rival online market place.

Taking to tweets, Flipkart  co-founder Sachin Bansal expressed solidarity with Snapdeal which faced the ire of a vast section of netizens opposed to Aamir Khan's comments. “This is a flawed logic. Brands don’t buy into brand ambassadors personal opinions. @snapdeal shouldn’t face this,” Bansal wrote.

The tweet came a day after Snapdeal said that the comments made by the actor were "in his personal capacity" and the e-commerce app was in no way connected with them. "Snapdeal is neither connected nor plays a role in comments made by Aamir Khan in his personal capacity. Snapdeal is a proud Indian company built by passionate young Indians focused on building an inclusive digital India," Snapdeal said in a statement.

Aamir Khan had triggered a controversy when he expressed "alarm and despondency" over the rise in incidents of intolerance in the last six to eight months.

"Kiran and I have lived all our life in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India... She fears for her child, she fears about what the atmosphere around us will be," the actor had said at a programme on Monday.
