Indian Muslims who feel persecuted in the country are free to go Pakistan : Assam Governor

Guwahati, Nov 22 (IBNS): Assam and Nagaland Governor PB Acharya on Sunday said that Indian Muslims who feel persecuted in the country are free to go Pakistan.

On Saturday, Acharya said that Hindustan is for Hindus and his controversial remarks sparked across the country.

The Governor of Assam and Nagaland on Sunday said that Indian Muslims who feel persecuted in here they freely go anywhere.

“If anyone want to go Pakistan or Bangladesh they are free to go. If he is persecuted like Tasleema Nasreen…..,” Acharya said at a press conference held at Raj Bhawan in Guwahati.

“India is the most tolerant country in the world and we will give safe haven to anyone,” the Assam Governor said.

Acharya also clarified his comment of Hindustan is for Hindus and said that his comment was wrongly published.

“I didn’t mean Hindustan is for Hindus only. Every persecuted Hindu anywhere have a right to seek shelter in India,” Acharya said.

Expressed his concerned in the ongoing process of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam Acharya said  a few elements with International agenda are tried to halt the entire process.

“The people of Assam could not afford to lose this opportunity to get rid of the foreigners constitutionally and de-voting them. Foreigners would not be allowed to have any say or decide our political fate. All genuine Indians should have their registration in the NRC. Inclusion of foreigners and omission of Indians will be detrimental to the security of the nation,” the Assam Governor said.

The Governor assured the public that his government is bent upon finishing the remaining work in time and that it would give the work top most priority.

“Proper NRC is the beginning of vibrant and strong Assam and north eastern region,” Acharya said.
