Modi takes charge; his Cabinet now official

New Delhi, May 27 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning officially took charge at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

On arriving to his South Block office, Modi laid rose petals and bowed before a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, then sat at his table and signed official papers.

He also paid a tribute to India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who died on May 27, 1964.

"I pay my tributes to our 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his Punya Tithi," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the portfolios of Modi's 45-member council of ministers were formally announced on Tuesday morning.
