Kolkata, Nov 12 (IBNS) The fire, which broke out in a warehouse of leather goods at Belur area in Howrah district of West Bengal on Wednesday night, has been brought under control on Thursday morning.

The fire was first seen around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

As many as nine fire tender engines rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control around 4 a.m. on Thursday.

Fire officials said that the fire might have started due to short circuit.

"Firecrackers might also be responsible for the fire. We can clarify the particular reason behind this fire after investigation," one fire official told IBNS.

However, the cooling off process in the warehouse is currently underway.

Meanwhile, another major fire broke out in a polystyrene (thermocol) factory beside Kalyani Expressway at Jagaddal in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Thursday morning.

At least ten fire tender engines have reached the spot and fire fighters are fighting to curb the blaze.

After primary investigation, fire officials said that firecrackers were responsible for the fire.

No casualties have been reported so far in both the mishaps.
