Srinagar, Nov 9 (IBNS): Violent protests broke out in the old city of Srinagar on Monday as a group of youths bombarded stones on security forces to show their anger over the killing of an engineering student in a CRPF firing at Zainakote on Sunday evening.
A large number of youths came out on streets in old Srinagar's Nowhatta, Gojwara, Rajouri Kadal and Kawadara areas early in the morning and blocked roads.
They also pelted stones on security forces, police said.
Security forces lobbed tear smoke shells to disperse the stone pelting protesters.
On Sunday evening, Gowhar Dar, an engineering student was allegedly killed by CRPF men when they were protesting against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kashmir on Nov 7.
The State government has already ordered an official inquiry into the death of the youth.
