Hyderabad/IBNS: One person died and six others received injuries as 'Onion bombs', a specialty of Diwali firecrackers, exploded in Andhra Pradesh's Eluru district, media reports said.

A man was carrying a shipment of these onion bombs on his two-wheeler, which fell off accidentally after his bike hit a pothole near a temple. The bombs exploded as a result of the sudden fall leaving the biker dead.

According to CCTV footage, the bike had a pillion rider too when the accident occurred.

As per experts, these onion bombs have the same intensity as the improvised explosive device (IED).

There was a small group of men gathered nearby when the bike exploded, leaving them injured.

The explosion's impact left the entire area covered in dark grey smoke, with bits of paper fluttering around.

The injured were rushed to hospital and the deceased biker was identified as Sudhakar, whose body was blown apart, according to reports.

Two of those injured are said to be in critical condition.

Local police quickly secured the area and launched an investigation. They registered a case to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
