Modi and BJP are same: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, Apr 12 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Monday said the party is synonymous with its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and vice versa.

"Modi and BJP are no two different entities. Both are same and inseparable," said Singh.

Pertinently, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday said there is a BJP wave in the country and not a Modi wave, calling the BJP's prime ministerial candidate a representative of the party.

"This wave or that wave, Modi is a representative of the party as a PM candidate. So, it's not a highly personalised thing, it is a representative wave. He gets the support from different parts of the country, from different sections of the society and from all leaders of the BJP,"  Joshi told Manorama News.

Joshi also said that the Gujarat model is not the only model to govern the country.

He said good points of all states will be taken. "... may be some good points from Tripura will also be there, may be some good points of Maharashtra will be there," he said.

He said in India what developmental model is true for Jammu and Kashmir or Arunachal Pradesh, may not be true for Kerala.

He also commented on the expulsion of Jaswant Singh from the party for his decision to contest from Barmer in Rajasthan as Independent after he was denied a party ticket.

"If it could have been avoided, I think it would be better. It's true that this decision was taken by the president and the chief minister but not as a behind-the-back decision. It was almost certain that they will decide it. Yes, but the fact that Mr Jaswant Singh will not be given a ticket, did not come for discussion,"  Joshi said.
