Houston: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing in Houston an event called 'Howdy Modi' on Sunday where US President Donald Trump is joining the Indian Prime Minister in a show of solidarity. Organised by Texas India Forum, some 50,000 people are participating in the mega event which is historic as for the first time a US President and an Indian Prime Minister are jointly addressing a rally like this.

Modi said he is learning a lot from US President Donald Trump.

"President Trump calls me a tough negotiator," Modi said.

"He (Trump) knows the art of the deal very well. I am learning a lot from him," he said.

He said the Indian government is not away from Indian diaspora.

"The Indian commissions and consulates are your first firend. Indian government is working for those Indians working outside," he said.

"The Article 370 had kept people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh away from the path of development," Modi said.

"Now everyone is enjoying same rights," he said.

The Indian Parliament discussed the issue for hours.

"Despite having our party's lesser number in the upper house, the decision on Article 370 was passed by significant majority," he said.

He directed the people attendign the event to giving standing ovation to the Parliamentarians of the country for their decison on the Article 370 issue.

"Everything is fine," Modi said in different languages.

He made the comment at a time when a controversy had recently erupted recently over Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remark on Hindi.

Recently, Shah extended his Hindi Diwas greetings to the people of the country and appealed that Hindi be made the primary language as it is necessary to have one to represent India.

It seemed that Modi reacted to the issue and tried to silence the critics of the government over the remark when he said: "The diversity of the country make India's emocracy stronger."

After President Trump ended his speech, now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started delivering his 'Howdy,Modi!' speech.

"This is an exceptional view," Modi said describing the atmosphere at Houston.

"The presence of huge number of people is not at all confined to artuhmetic," he said.

"We are seeing the creation of a new history and chemistry here," he said as President Donald Trump remained at the venue.

"The presence of American Trump and other Amercian leaders and appreciating India and me is a refelction of the acheivement of Indians staying in America," he said.

"It is an honour for Indians across the globe," he said.

Modi is not a 'significant element' alone.

"I am working at the directions of the 1.3 crore Indians. I am an ordinary man," he said.

"In India everything is good right now," he said describing the 'Howdy,Modi!' word.

 Howdy Modi is a community summit hosted by Texas India Forum (TIF) for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi  at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas at 10 am US time. Over 50,000 attendees have registered in three weeks for the sold-out event though online registration, waitlist registration for free passes is still open. The live audience will be the largest gathering for an invited foreign leader visiting the United States other than the Pope. The “Howdy Modi” summit has been organized with the support of more than 1,000 volunteers and 650 Texas-based Welcome Partner organizations. 'Howdy, Modi' is likely to end at 11:30 pm (India time) following which the Prime Minister is likely to join a private community reception. Modi would then fly to New York to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
