Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has called for the floor test Thursday in a recent development to the ongoing political crisis in the state. The crisis had started after ruling Shiv Sena member Eknath Shinde turned rebel and camped along with his 40 odd loyalists outside Maharashtra, threatening to uninstall the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Uddhav Thackeray resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the Supreme Court refused to stay Thursday's floor test for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in state Legislative Assembly.

The apex Court issued notice on Shiv Sena Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu's plea and said that tomorrow's floor test will be subject to the outcome of the present petition. The apex court will hear his plea on July 11.

The Supreme Court on Wendesday refused to stay Thursday's floor test for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

The Supreme Court is hearing Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's plea against an order by the governor to prove his majority Thursday. Shiv Sena rebels, who have ignored Thackeray's appeals to return, have left Guwahati.

Team Thackeray has gone to the apex court with the argument that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari's order is illegal, as 16 rebel MLAs have yet to respond on their possible disqualification.

Shiv Sena MLAs may move to Goa ahead of floor test

Ahead of floor test to be held in the Maharashtra assembly on Thursday, Shiv Sena MLAs may come to this coastal state Wednesday.

According to sources, the MLAs led by Eknath Shinde are likely to reach the capital city Panjim by this evening.

Over 70 rooms have been booked in a five star hotel located near the city.

Shiv Sena spokesperson and senior leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that, the MVA government of Maharashtra will challenge to state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari's directive asking Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to undergo a floor of test on June 30 to prove his majority.

Talking with media persons Raut said that the state Governor is doing this under pressure and it's is not correct to call a special assembly session to undergo the floor test.

Our legal team will approach the Supreme Court and we have confidence in the court, said Raut.

Devendra Fadnavis seeks floor test

Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis today met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and urged him to conduct floor test of MVA government.

Talking to reporters after meeting with governor, Fadnavis said that the present MVA government in Maharashtra has reduced in minority since 39 Shiv Sena MLAs has left Uddhav Thackeray and they are staying in Guwahati.

Therefore, we have demanded to governor to call floor test to prove the majority by MVA led Uddhav Thackeray government.

Mr Fadnavis also said that he has given many references of Supreme Court in the letter given to Governor.

Though, governor has not yet given the fixed date for floor test, but it is learned that Koshyari can announce the date very soon for the floor test.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on his return from Delhi triggering speculation about the party's stake in claiming to form government in Maharashtra.

Devendra Fadnavis had headed for the Governor's House straight from the airport.

It was learnt that Fadnavis gave a letter to the Governor, claiming his majority to form the next government in Maharashtra.

Fadnavis just returned from Delhi, where he held meeting with Amit Shah.

Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde, who has triggered a massive crisis in Maharashtra politics, is headed to Mumbai finally, media reports said.

His travel plans suggest that he's ready to fuel the next big move against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, a no-confidence vote, which would force the former to prove that his majority in the government.

Perhaps eyeing the no-confidence vote, Thackeray on Tuesday sent a letter to the 40 MLAs from his own party who had deserted him.

"Come back to Mumbai, let's talk, we'll find a way (out)," read Thackeray's emotional appeal to Shinde's camp.
