Ubisoft taps franchise legends to redefine Assassin’s Creed future
Vantage Studios, a subsidiary of Ubisoft, has announced the appointment of three senior leaders to spearhead the long-term vision, creative direction and continued growth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Martin Schelling has been named Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand and will oversee the brand’s overall strategy and long-term vision.
“Martin brings with him a combination of deep production expertise and a profound understanding of Assassin’s Creed, shaped through his leadership on some of its most defining titles, including Revelations, Black Flag, Origins and Valhalla,” the company said in a statement.
Schelling most recently served as Ubisoft’s Chief Production Officer, where he was responsible for redefining development workflows across the company’s portfolio.
Jean Guesdon has been appointed Head of Content for the brand. In this role, he will lead its overall creative direction, support individual game teams and guide the franchise’s evolution while staying true to its core identity.
A veteran designer at Ubisoft, Guesdon’s association with the franchise dates back to the original 2007 release. He is best known for serving as Creative Director on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
François de Billy has taken on the role of Head of Production Excellence. He will focus on strengthening production practices and execution across the brand.
Another long-time contributor to the franchise, de Billy most recently served as Production Director on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Origins. He is internally recognised for his ability to streamline processes and remove friction across complex production workflows.
Schelling, Guesdon and de Billy have collaborated on several flagship Assassin’s Creed titles over the years, working across creative, production and brand strategy functions.
In the coming weeks, they will transition from their current roles to formally join the Assassin’s Creed leadership team alongside Andrée-Anne Boisvert, Producer for cross-brand initiatives and Head of Technological Excellence, and Lionel Hiller, Vice President of Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy, as the franchise enters what the company describes as an ambitious new chapter.
