Tata Sky organises screening of nominated, award-winning short films

Kolkata, Feb 23 (IBNS): Tata Sky, India’s content distribution platform, organized a screening of nominated and award-winning short films from across the globe at Hard Rock Cafe here on Friday.

Actress Rasika Duggal, producer-director Chintan Sarda and Tarun Sawhney, who is the Head of Global Partnerships – Asia at Shorts International, discussing the increasing popularity of short films in India, were present at the screening.

Tata Sky ShortsTV brought handpicked bouquet of acclaimed short films for the cinema audience of Kolkata.

The Oscar nominated short films that were screened included Bear Story (Winner of Best Animated Short Film - 2015 Academy Awards), French Roast (Nominated for Best Animated Short Film - 2009 Academy Awards) & The Eleven O’Clock (Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film - 2018 Academy Awards). This was just a glimpse of over 600 hours of unconventional and captivating short format stories available on Tata Sky ShortsTV.

Tata Sky ShortsTV will be showcasing previous years’ Oscar-nominated short films throughout the month of February along with a Oscar Marathon on the day of the Oscar ceremony (Feb 24) with back-to-back films and interviews with Oscar nominated filmmakers. Subscribers can enjoy the short films from the comfort of their homes, laptop as well as on-the-go on Tata Sky Mobile App.

Present on the occasion, Duggal said: “The audience in India is ready for the next big wave that is short content viewing. It is great to see that Tata Sky and Shorts International have taken the initiative to provide a singular platform, one that together curates short format content from across the world and allows people to access acclaimed films with utmost ease. As viewers and actors, we are so happy to finally have such a destination.”

Sawhney said: “Tata Sky ShortsTV has been a great opening to the Indian market for Shorts International. Apart from the picking the best of Short format content from across the world, we have also expanded our offerings in Indian languages.”

“One such effort to make this service more enjoyable for the subscribers is the screening of Oscar nominated short films. We have a library of previously Oscar nominated short films and subscribers will soon be able to watch the 2019 Oscar nominated and winning films on the Tata Sky ShortsTV too.”
