Kolkata/IBNS: Paint Our World (POW), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), recently organised a Christmas party in the Bowbazar neighbourhood of central Kolkata for their target beneficiaries – underserved children who endured abuse and trauma.

According to the NGO, their motive is to transform the plight of society’s ‘invisible’ children into invincible ones.

Led by founder Dr. Priya Virmani, they organised a fun-filled get-together along with the support from various contributors.

Preksha Agarwal of Chocolic surprised the kids with a huge sumptuous, Santa shaped cake.

Gaurav Punjabi, aka the social dancer, conducted a workshop ensemble including Bollywood, African Beats and Latin Dance.

Together with his dancing partner Preeti, they helped the children enjoy fun-filled sessions of learning through dance.

David, the mind illusionist, stunned everyone with his mind blowing, interactive show.

Tanvi Lakhani, Prachi Kejriwal, Swati Garg and Kolkata based finance company SKS Capital and Research came forward with gifts of food, stationery, toys, sweets, etc.

According to Dr. Priya Virmani, "People are sometimes very insensitive towards child victims of trauma and atrocities.”

She said that abandoned children on streets and railway station platforms go through horrific experiences, often abused at or near the site itself.

“We reach out to this demographic of children empowering them emotionally to give them a childhood of safety, dignity, fun, care, love, laughter and opportunity which best places them for a purposeful adulthood. This is what Paint Our World’s work is all about,” said Dr Virmani.

Cricketer Ritwik Roy Chowdhury, a role model cricketer for many of the children, appreciated the efforts of Paint Our World (POW) and said, “This is commendable, may this infect many more to come forward and make the POWerOfCompassion Fashion.”

POW, in a release said, they have reached out to over 500 underserved children from Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Indian footballer Bhaiching Bhutia is a trustee of this project.
