Kolkata-based institution observes Jagannath Rath Yatra, also holds cultural festival on Odisha

Kolkata, July 6 (IBNS): Kolkata-based Jagannath Seva Samiti held the Jagannath Rath Yatra on Thursday with much fanfare.

The chariots traveled from Central Park, located in Salt Lake, in the eastern fringe of the city, to Swabhumi. accompanied by a grand procession.

Prior to that, Mahendra Jaipuria, a city-based businessman, performed the 'cherra panhara' ritual. 

Participating in the procession were several cultural troupes from Odisha.

The deities will reside in Swabhumi until the Bahuda Yatra or Ultoroth, which takes place on July 12.

The Odisha Festival will be held in Swabhumi during this period.
